Young Enterprise Gibraltar is a charity that works directly with young people, teachers, business advisers and influencers with the aim to build a successful and sustainable future for all young people. The scheme provides training and opportunities to enable students to ‘learn by doing’ in a protected environment in order to gain confidence and great entrepreneurial skills. The programmes offered by the charity are focused on soft and core skills, including problem-solving and team-building. The Company Programme, the charity’s flagship programme is aimed at 16-17 year olds where participants are able to open and manage a real business for a period of 9 months. The programme allows participants to compete in the Gibraltar regional final for the opportunity to attend the UK national final.
Given the hands-on experience offered by the programme, it is recognised for helping young people develop the life skills, knowledge and confidence they need to succeed in the changing world of work. It provides meaningful opportunities, combined with appropriate support to develop and apply an enterprising mindset supported with relevant masterclasses. The programme allows participants to benefit from advice from business advisors and to engage with the local and international community in order to develop their business.
Given the networking opportunities afforded by the programme, many participants have gone on to obtain internships and job offers as a direct result of interactions held through the Company Programme.
